My Clinical Experience

Welcome! My name is Ryan Lewis (he/him/his), and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and the founder of Ryan Lewis Counseling & Psychotherapy and Integrative Wellness Programs. For more than fifteen years, I have been a counselor in the private practice, small business, college and community mental health settings—providing assessments, diagnosis and evidence-based treatments to individuals, couples, families and groups.

I am privileged to work with clients of all ages and diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, belief systems, sexual orientation and gender identities. Having long been interested in how we cope with our unique circumstances and empathetic toward the struggles and challenges that life throws at us, I bring to each session a personal passion to help support others combined with an education and professional experience to enable sustainable growth and healing. I believe my primary role as a therapist is to provide my clients with an opportunity to collaboratively strategize on how to improve the overall quality and functioning of their lives, offer a compassionate and objective perspective on challenging and stress-filled situations; and, provide tools and strategies to treat and prevent a majority of behavioral health conditions and major life stressors.

My formal education includes a Master's degree (M.A.) in Mental Health Counseling from Seattle University and a Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from the University of Nevada, Reno and from the University of Brighton, England. In 2009, I opened my counseling and psychotherapy practice after concluding an internship at Sound Mental Health—one of the largest community mental health agencies in the Puget Sound region. Since then, I have completed hundreds of hours of continuing education courses and accumulated close to 18,000 direct client hours. I’ve also facilitated numerous therapeutic process-oriented and psychoeducational groups and supervised college interns and pre-licensed therapists and coaches.

In 2018, I founded Integrative Wellness Programs (IWP) and brought on Hailey Christensen, LMHCA and Geneva Ellis, ACC to help support my growing practice. Hailey provides additional counseling and psychotherapy services for our clients while Geneva offers clients more structured coaching solutions and preventative wellness practices. At IWP, we are currently hard at work creating counseling and coaching programs designed for motivated individuals, couples and wellness professionals that are looking for sustainable results and transformative life experiences. If you are interested in working with another member of my team or learning more about our integrative wellness programs and services, please visit the IWP website.

On a more personal note, my own experiences with counseling and coaching helped to shape my belief that healing is possible and transformation is attainable. Psychotherapy assisted me in recognizing my long-term ambitions of starting a private practice after having worked as a therapist in both the community mental health and post-secondary settings, and after an early career in sports publishing during my twenties and early thirties. Through my own counseling, I learned to manage stress more effectively, to set healthy boundaries, and to embrace my strengths as an objective listener and compassionate and pragmatic problem-solver. Professional coaching further helped me to identify and set clear and attainable goals, create a framework to accomplish my personal and professional objectives, and gave me an advocate and supportive partner that helped encouraged me to chase my dreams and make them a reality.

I look forward to providing my support and services to you and assisting you in making the life changes you desire and deserve!
